Localized Print Ad Print AD As part of the campaign we designed a print AD to be used in Costco in store magazines and additional placements. The print ad utilizes a matching visual style with much of the same informational content as the video. Localization Social Media Cut Replace all batteries with fresh batteries of the same brand and type. DO Insert batteries properly, with the plus (+) and minus (–) terminals aligned correctly. DO Our visual approach utilized 3D renders of Duracell products alongside minimalistic 2D settings. Each scene included text on screen with the “do and don’t” tips to reinforce the message of the voiceover. Key Visual Design A rechargeable battery comes in - VO: Do not try to charge non-rechargeable batteries, as it can cause them to overheat and leak. The batteries swap out and new batteries come in - VO: Always replace all batteries at the same time with the positive and negative ends correctly aligned. OPEN on a device - The battery casing opens up revealing two AAA batteries inside. Scripting & Storyboard We wanted to educate customers about potential leaking hazards and give them tips that would help them get the most out of their Duracell batteries. While battery care is a serious issue, we wanted to convey this without creating a sense of fear, and with a high level of trust in the Duracell brand. We decided to take a very direct and simple approach, centering the script around a “do and don’t” refrain that would allow us to clearly convey the message with a tone of authority while keeping a light hearted and engaging tone. Our Approach Our challenge was to explain a serious subject that could potentially be dangerous in a digestible, 60-second explainer video that would be educational while still remaining engaging. Challenge GOAL Create an explainer video and print ad for Duracell, adhering to their brand guidelines and voice, on the topic of safe battery use and care.
